    The cycling events of the national games terminated in Longgang District on Jul. 08

    On July 08, The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the People’s Republic of China, got the cycling events terminated in Longgang District of Shenzhen.Since July 01, 188 athletes from 16 teams across China participated in the 46 track cycling events and 59 road cycling events, for the 105 golds.Eventually, the nation’s historical records of 17 events were broken. Guangdong Team got the first place, with 64 gold medals, 43 silver medals and 31 bronze medals. Shandong Team ranked second with 11 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 10 bronze medals, while Henan Team ranked third with 10 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 15 bronze medals.Guangdong Province always shares its advantages in cycling games, and its athletes achieved a great deal in the cycling games of The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the People’s Republic of China.Liang Guihua, an athlete of Guangdong Team, won numerous golds, thanks to his persistence in the daily training. “There is no secret of success, but training day by day”, expressed by Liang.Another athlete of Guangdong Province -- Wang Xiaomei, won 6 golds in the 4 track cycling events and 2 road cycling events she participated in. “The result comes as just what we expect, but also beyond what we expect.” Wang expressed her surprise at the achievement that she could won the championship of all the events she participated in.“We came back to Guangdong Province for training since this March. We get used to training in hot weather. So, we do not feel it very difficult. And, we had a good performance”, Wang said. “We have further goals. Next, we would train for the Los Angeles Paralympic Games”, Wang added.Wang also shared her impression of Longgang District where the cycling games took place. “I have before come to Longgang District during my first trip to Shenzhen. There have been many great changes in the district during the recent years, especially nearby the venues of the games. New and beautiful schools have been built here. The district of Shenzhen develops so fast. It is just the speed of Shenzhen”, Wang said.“No medal would come without pain”, stated by Li Peng -- the chief coach of Guangdong Team.     36,000 athletes are estimated to take part in the national games

    It is estimated that 36,000 athletes, as well as 45,000 volunteers, would take part in The 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China and The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the People’s Republic of China, introduced by the organizing committees at the news conference held on June 18.The above-mentioned games would be hosted jointly for the first time by Guangdong Province, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR of China. With the opening ceremony and closing ceremony respectively held in Guangzhou city and Shenzhen city of Guangdong Province, the games would take place in 19 cities of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Compared with the previous sessions, the games of this year boasts the largest number of host cities.The 15th National Games would involve 57 sports, while The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games would include 46 sports, all on the ever largest scale.In total, 105 arenas are designated for the games. The 89 ones in Guangdong Province, apart from the 6 temporary ones, have been prepared well. 90% of the arenas in Guangdong Province are prepared by renovating the previously-existing arenas, while 22 arenas are shared ones, according to the related introduction.In preparation for the games, Guangdong Province sees 228 designated hospitals for the medical service, as well as the special meteorological stations for the weather forecast. 5 rounds of inspection have been conducted for the prevention of possible risks. Some major arenas are equipped with dual electrical power systems to guarantee the power supply. Besides, the province has also recruited about tens of thousands of volunteers from its 98 colleges and universities, for the hosting of the games above mentioned.

    As approved by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the former Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, located in Longgang District, will operate as a university and be renamed Shenzhen University of Information Technology.In 2025, the new university will have 5 vocational and undergraduate programs, involving software engineering technology, modern communication engineering, integrated circuit engineering technology, smart manufacturing engineering technology, and embedded technology. 

    A warning against the weather changes caused by Typhoon Wutip

    Wutip -- the No.1 typhoon of this year, comes, as its core reached the sea about 205 kilometers southeast to Sanya City of Hainan Province at 5 o’clock in this morning and is moving towards the coastal area along south Hainan Island, at a speed of about 10 kilometers/h, according to Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China.With the increasing intensity, Typhoon Wutip is forecast to hit the coastal area spanning from Lingshui to Ledong of Hainan Province, from the next dawn to morning.From this noon to the next, Typhoon Wutip would cause huge and raging waves breaking in the west of South China Sea, and great and huge waves lapping on the immediate offshore areas in the east and south of Hainan Province. Guangdong Province and Hainan Province both gave the warnings against the consequent storm tides.According to the forecast from Meteorological Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Typhoon Wutip would bring the city strong winds and heavy rains. Citizens are advised to take precautions against the severe weather.

    Recently, The Last Summer -- a film created by a Longgang-based enterprise, named Shenzhen Yuguang Cultural Communication Co., Ltd, has been nominated for “Asian New Talent” Award, an award of the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), which would happen from Jun. 13-22.The Last Summer drew great attention from the early stage of the creation. It is a social realist film which mainly tells a story of how an accident caused by a falling object shatters the seemingly-peaceful life.
