Riders tackle Shenzhen's toughest hill-climb course at the ninth Yuanshan Cycling Race.

The ninth Yuanshan Cycling Race, part of the second Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Sports Carnival series, kicked off recently in Yuanshan subdistrict, Longgang.

The event attracted 189 cyclists from overseas, Hong Kong, Macao and other parts of the Chinese mainland, including 25 from Hong Kong and Macao. They competed on the 3.05 km route from Tanxian Temple to Yuanshan Peak, which climbs 330 meters and is known as one of Shenzhen’s toughest climbing courses. The online livestream drew about 1.24 million views.

The race featured a futuristic touch with robots and robotic dogs joining the award ceremony, highlighting Longgang’s strength in technology and innovation.

Held under the theme of "Fun in Longgang, Vitality in the Bay Area", the carnival serves as a key sports exchange platform to boost integration among Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao. Participants said the challenging race and beautiful scenery helped strengthen friendship across regions.
