CUHK-Shenzhen establishes School of Artificial Intelligence!!!

On Feb. 13, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) held the Inauguration Ceremony of School of Artificial Intelligence and International Forum on Artificial Intelligence, at SIN Wai Kin International Conference Center. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Huang Jianwei -- associate vice president of CUHK-Shenzhen. About 200 government officials, specialists and scholars, industry practitioners, and media workers attended the ceremony, witnessing the establishment of School of Artificial Intelligence of CUHK-Shenzhen.CUHK-Shenzhen, located in Longgang District of Shenzhen, began its schooling in 2014, and School of Artificial Intelligence is its 8th independent academy. School of Artificial Intelligence of CUHK-Shenzhen is scheduled to begin its enrollment in September of 2025, for the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes in artificial intelligence. CUHK-Shenzhen is an innovation-driven university rooted in the Greater Bay Area (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area) and with national and international eyesight. Longgang District’s GDP of 2024 = 590.127 Billion Yuan

According to the calculation of Shenzhen’s GDP, Longgang District of Shenzhen recorded a GDP of 590.127 billion yuan in the year of 2024, which increased by 6.7% as compared with the previous year on the fixed-price basis. Specifically, the added value of the district’s industrial enterprises above designated size (each of whom gets the yearly revenue of the main businesses above 20 million yuan) surged by 9.4% year on year. The added value of the district’s primary industry (agriculture, forestry, husbandry and fishing) decreased by 12.5% year on year to 125 million yuan. The added value of the district’s secondary industry (mining, manufacturing, electric power, construction and other industries alike) increased by 7.8% year on year to 378.927 billion yuan. The added value of the district’s tertiary industry (the industries otherwise primary or secondary industry) increased by 4.7% year on year to 211.074 billion yuan. Shenzhen’s GDP= 3680.187 billion yuan (in 2024)

According to the statistical data on the GDP of whole Guangdong Province publicized by Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Statistics on Jan. 26, 2025, Shenzhen’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) reached 3680.187 billion yuan in 2024, as calculated on the fixed-price basis, surging by 5.8% year on year. Specifically, the added value of the city’s primary sector (mainly referring to agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishing) boasted a year-on-year increase of 1.5%, to 2.637 billion yuan. The added value of the city’s secondary sector (specifically referring to mining, manufacturing, electric power, constructing and other industries alike) saw a year-on-year increase of 8.3%, to 1390.928 billion yuan. The added value of the city’s tertiary sector (referring to those other than primary or secondary sector) witnessed a year-on-year increase of 4.3%, to 2286.622 billion yuan.

The year of 2025 is the last year of the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan and the 45th anniversary of the founding of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.On Jan. 02, Shenzhen Municipality gives its permits for the implementation of 259 projects totally. And, 36 of them are of Longgang District.With the total investment of 28.534 billion yuan, the 36 projects cover various sectors like infrastructure, social development, people’s livelihood, industrial development, which could greatly improve citizen’s living environment and boost the high-quality development of the economy.More specifically, 15 ones of the 36 projects involve new energy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), electronic information and other hi-tech and emerging industries, with the investment of 17.1 billion yuan.
