A 3D printing community market was held on Oct 24 at Shanxia New Village Central Square in Pinghu subdistrict, Longgang district, Shenzhen, drawing close to 300 residents to experience 3D printing technology firsthand.
The event was organized under the "Dream Printing Workshop" brand of the Longgang district committee's organization department. Residents booked experience slots in advance via the "i Longgang" mini-program, and the event page received nearly 500 views.
At the 3D printing experience area, printers ran non-stop, layering digital models into physical objects such as keychains and creative ornaments. Children watched as staff explained the principles of slicing, layering and forming. Residents selected preset templates to create customized items on-site, then had the opportunity to take them home after a short wait.
Outside the printing area, residents enjoyed interactive games such as bowling, ring toss, pitch-pot and blind drum striking. A smart robot dog also made an appearance, drawing cheers and laughter from the crowd.
The event was part of Pinghu subdistrict's efforts to promote 3D printing in community Party service centers and explore the integration of virtual community platforms with community services. The subdistrict said it plans to expand 3D printing education and services, making technological innovation more accessible and engaging for residents.
