Shenzhen's Longgang district is set to host the third VACAT global AI visual creativity awards at the Longgang International Arts Center in late Nov, following the contest’s debut at the GOSIM global open-source innovation summit in Shenzhen.

The GOSIM summit, the seventh edition and the first to be held in Shenzhen, brought together over 210 speakers from more than 20 countries and regions, as well as over 2,000 developers. VACAT was featured in the summit's Spotlight session and an exhibition booth, inviting global developers to take part.

VACAT, founded by Longgang district in 2024, was the world's first government-hosted AI visual arts competition. Its first two editions drew over 8,000 submissions worldwide, with online views reaching 50 million and 70 million, respectively. This year's edition has already received 5,635 entries, up over 20 percent from last year.

The third edition is co-hosted by the Longgang district government, Shanghai Film Co and Douyin, with Douyin serving as the exclusive content partner. It features main, special and dedicated tracks, including a custom AI dome screen creation track for the Longgang International Arts Center. The awards ceremony, "VACAT Night", is set to combine an opening show, awards, performances and a creator party, alongside workshops, product launches and matchmaking events.
