As the 2026 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting approaches, Baolong subdistrict in Longgang district is hosting a series of community activities, including children's art classes, foreign language training and interactive quizzes, for residents of all ages.

In one activity, children learned about the design of the APEC logo, which features 21 interwoven feathers forming a roc, Shenzhen's nickname, symbolizing the 21 Asia-Pacific economies. They then drew their own colorful logos, greenery and city skylines, following the theme "Connecting Asia-Pacific, Going Green Together".

At the Nanyue community service center, a Filipino teacher led volunteers in practicing English phrases such as "Do you need any help?" and "Welcome to Shenzhen." A volunteer said she used to be afraid to speak to foreigners but felt much more confident after the training session.

The Tongxin community hosted an English corner with representatives from foreign-funded enterprises, while the Baolong community set up a mobile classroom in a residential compound. Residents could earn a gift package by completing three activities: answering questions about the Asia-Pacific region, demonstrating good public behavior and taking photos at designated locations.

Baolong subdistrict said it will continue to integrate basic foreign language training, etiquette guidance and APEC knowledge into daily community services.
