Performers play an ensemble piece at the sixth Longgang Original Music Showcase.
The seventh Longgang Original Music Showcase, running under the banner "New Songs of the Greater Bay Area", will be held on Oct 24 at the Longgang Cultural Center Concert Hall in Shenzhen.
Organized by the publicity department of the Longgang district committee of the CPC and the Longgang Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the event is co-hosted by the Longgang Musicians Association and the School of Music of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. It aims to highlight local original music and showcase the region's creative power.
Since the call for entries began in July, the event has received 200 submissions from over 20 provinces and municipalities. Ten were selected as "outstanding works" and 16 as "nominated works". The selected pieces cover a wide range of themes and styles, including tributes to the Greater Bay Area's development, cross-border attempts linking intangible cultural heritage with digital technology, and AI-assisted compositions.
The event will be divided into two parts: a seminar running from 2 pm to 3:30 pm focusing on music creation and future directions, and a concert from 4 pm to 5:30 pm presenting selected works in a live performance.
The concert is free to the public, with tickets available through a reservation system.
Attendees must present their ID and phone number to collect tickets two hours before the performance at Gate 2 of Zone A, Longgang Cultural Center. Children above 1.2 meters or aged six and above may enter with a ticket.
