Humanoid robots dribble, pass and shoot in a smooth, coordinated sequence.

The 1st Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Primary and Secondary School Humanoid Robot Football League (Longgang station) kicked off on Oct 19 at Shenzhen Future Bilingual School in Longgang. The inaugural match was held on the same day as a meeting on AI-empowered education for the 2026-27 academic year.

Unlike common remote-controlled demonstrations, the league features fully autonomous 3v3 humanoid robot matches, forming a complete loop of perception, decision-making, execution and collaboration. Students program the robots and design algorithms and tactics, while the robots execute the moves.

The opening ceremony included a 3v3 performance match, a robot action imitation show and a robot-executed version of China’s traditional lion dance blending Lingnan folk culture with AI technology.

The league uses BoosterK1 humanoid robots and covers specialized training, independent preparation, group stages and finals. It serves as a practical platform for embodied AI education in Longgang's primary and secondary schools and as a district-level qualifier for the football event of the World Humanoid Robot Games. Outstanding teams will be recommended for higher-level competitions.

The event runs for about two months and involves 13 teams from Pinghu, Bantian and Central City. Three schools were designated as specialized training bases: Shenzhen Future Bilingual School, Pinghu Xinde School, and Yunhe School of the Longgang Foreign Languages School Group.

The league is an innovative example of integrating sports and AI education, offering students a new platform to develop their programming, algorithmic and teamwork skills.
