A Longgang-based tech firm is harnessing homegrown AI and chip technology to restore hearing for millions of senior citizens across China.
Eartech unveiled its new Shell AIR and Crescent AIR hearing-aid models, featuring self-developed 6-nanometer chips and 22-decibel noise reduction to improve speech clarity in noisy environments.
Many international rivals only reach 6-decibel noise suppression. The improved performance lets older users pick up far more spoken words, whether at bustling markets or family gatherings.
Eartech is China's first hearing-aid brand with end-to-end in-house capabilities covering chip design, algorithm development, manufacturing, fitting and after-sales services.
Official data shows some 120 million Chinese seniors aged 65 and above live with hearing loss, yet fewer than 6 percent receive proper intervention.
"For the elderly, AI means hearing market prices, family greetings and grandchildren's words clearly," Lu Rui, the director of Eartech, said.
