A free community robotics assessment event in Longgang district offered local children hands-on robot-assembly and coding experience to nurture young talent in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), local media outlets reported on Sept 15.

Open to young residents free of charge, the event featured expert sharing sessions and hands-on robot-building challenges, attracting some 50 local families. STEM education experts shared practical advice on motivating children, adolescent mental health and local education options, addressing common concerns of parents.

Working with VEX robotics kits, modular building systems that allow users to assemble and code robots, participants built robot structures and programmed simple commands to complete assigned tasks.
