Longgang district opened the country’s first AI service zone on Sept 4 to help individuals, empower businesses and offer urban administrators a glimpse into the possibilities of the future.

On the same day, a special convention was held in Longgang district, where experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs gathered to discuss work, health, and emotional well-being in the era of AI, while demonstrations were given of robotic vacuum cleaners, coffee-making robots, and delivery drones.

The zone allows visitors to try, rent, buy, and assemble robots on their own. Companies can rent robotic dogs and tour-guide robots at a daily rate of 1,000 yuan ($149). In the component supermarket, core parts such as reducers and servo motors are on display.

AI applications are becoming increasingly used by Longgang residents for health-related purposes. Half a million residents use the “Doctor Longgang” AI health assistant to monitor their physical health conditions.

Longgang has launched eight AI agents, covering diverse cases in education, healthcare, enterprise services, and emergency response.

“Longgang’s AI street has turned the city into a testing ground for AI applications. Consumers can experience the technology firsthand, while companies receive feedback so they can improve,” said Xiao Zhenliang, vice president of Baseus Technology, a Longgang-based consumer electronics enterprise.
