Pinghu subdistrict in Longgang district has been designated for upgrading to a municipal urban function center, according to the Longgang district government work report released on Aug 25. According to the report, the subdistrict is also earmarked for development into a world‑class semiconductor industry and technology hub.

In the first half of 2026, Pinghu recorded fixed-asset investment of 11.65 billion yuan ($1.63 billion), ranking first in the district, and its industrial investment hit 7.81 billion yuan, surging 54.98 percent year on year.

Longgang has outlined a "dual-core" drive strategy centered on Pinghu and Longhua centers to build a semiconductor industry corridor running through the industrial cluster. Pinghu will make every effort to support the capacity expansion of leading enterprises and ensure that key projects are completed and put into operation on schedule.

But new challenges have also emerged. New high-tech enterprises have stringent requirements for factory buildings that traditional standard workshops cannot meet, and vacant land for supply is absent in practice.

Pinghu has proposed preparing and releasing over 100 hectares of contiguous high-quality industrial land to provide large-scale, concentrated industrial space for the development of the semiconductor industry and frontier fields.
