The forth Shenzhen International Optics Fair and the Global AI Glasses Expo opened in Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong province on June 16.

The three-day event brings together over 300 international procurement groups and is attended by around 80,000 eyewear stores nationwide. The expo features over 10 concurrent events, including product launches, an ecosystem conference, and a design competition.

At the heart of this global eyewear industry expo is Shenzhen's Longgang district, a key hub for high-end eyewear production that is rapidly transitioning from a traditional manufacturing base to a global smart eyewear innovation center under the "All in AI" strategy.

Since establishing its first eyewear factory in 1983, Longgang has developed a highly concentrated industrial cluster with a complete supply chain. Currently, Longgang produces 125 million pairs of glasses annually, capturing over 50 percent of the global high-end market share, with nearly 1,000 eyewear manufacturing enterprises in 2025.

The district emphasizes transforming and upgrading the eyewear industry through AI empowerment and intelligent manufacturing. Its smart eyewear sector covers upstream components, midstream structural design and assembly, and downstream brand operations and sales.

The district boasts a comprehensive industrial chain support, with the newly operational Yuanshan Eyewear Intelligent Manufacturing Park and the Chanfu Innovation Building offering 200,000 square meters of premium industrial space.

This strategic development marks Longgang's journey from OEM production to original design, from traditional eyewear to smart wearables, and from regional brands to national icons.
