The 4th Shenzhen International Optical Fair and Global AI Glasses Expo 2026 is scheduled to be held from June 16 to 18 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center (Futian) in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, according to a recent press conference in Shenzhen.

As the core area for Shenzhen's eyewear industry, Longgang aims to leverage this event to transform exhibition traffic into industrial growth, propelling Shenzhen towards becoming a hub for intelligent eyewear manufacturing.

The exhibition covers 22,500 square meters and attracts over 300 companies, presenting both traditional and smart eyewear. It will highlight smart glasses applications in tourism, industry and education, addressing market challenges with high-definition interactive displays.

During the event, the first draft of an industry standard for smart glasses will be released, setting general technical requirements and defining standardized interfaces and protocols. This aims to ensure interoperability among products from different companies in optical modules, communication protocols and data formats.

In addition, a 2 billion yuan ($292 million) smart glasses industry fund will be launched to support technological innovation, commercialization and the intelligent transformation of traditional eyewear companies.

Shenzhen's intensive cluster of eyewear manufacturers, particularly in Longgang's Henggang and Yuanshan areas, benefits from a complete industrial chain and skilled workforce. The rise of smart glasses offers a transformative opportunity for the traditional eyewear industry.

The expo is set to present strategic opportunities in design, technology, and standards, featuring exchanges with top European designers to merge Eastern and Western aesthetics with smart technology.

The event is also poised to facilitate collaboration between core component companies and full-service providers, driving the upgrade from traditional eyewear production to intelligent solutions.
