Longgang District is rated as the nation’s fifth leading district by CCID Consulting

On August 05, the Urban Economy Institute of CCID Consulting released the Research Report on the High-Quality Development of China’s Urban Economies 2025 and publicized the top 100 districts of the nation.

6 districts of Shenzhen were subscribed on the List of Top 100 Districts publicized by CCID Consulting. Longgang District, in the northeast of Shenzhen, was placed in the fifth place of the List.

CCID Consulting continues to employ the “dual-threshold” assessment criterion, calling for a regional GDP of over 80 billion yuan and the general public budget revenue of over 2 billion yuan. The mechanism consisting of 23 factors is also utilized to conduct comprehensive assessment on urban high-quality development from 5 aspects, as economic power, growth impetus, endogenous support, local development capacity and shared development.

According to the related introduction, Longgang District is an economic giant of Shenzhen Municipality. In 2024, the district generated a GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of 590.1 billion yuan, which increased year on year by 6.7%. It has been in the first place for 7 consecutive years in a row, on the List of China’s Top 100 Industrial Districts released by the CAICI (China Academy of Information and Communications Technology).

Longgang District attaches great importance to the industrial development, while prioritizing the manufacturing development. It makes efforts to strengthen the IT (information technology) industry, BT (biotechnology) industry and low-carbon industry, as well as promoting the integrated development of the advanced manufacturing and the modern services. In 2024, the number of the national high-tech enterprises located in the district increased by 204 to 3612; that of the national “little-giant” enterprises specialized in a particular and sophisticated technology increased by 31 to 111, and that of the national “single-champion” enterprises skilled at a particular subdivision of manufacturing increased by 4 to 8.

During recent years, Longgang District has also made a great deal in developing emerging industries. In this May, the district founded the AI (Robot) Government Office, which was the first governmental institution in the nation that’s focused on the AI and robotic development. Longgang District also develops a block particularly for the demonstration of embodied intelligent robots, where a 6S robotics store opens to pull the robotic technologies into the market.

Besides, Longgang District attracts over 150 enterprises engaging in the upstream and downstream of low-altitude economy sector. Recently, the district has launched “Amap of Air” in cooperation with Amap Software Co., Ltd., which is aimed to be a digital map of both land and air routes, so as to serve the development of low-altitude economy and promote the low-altitude-economy-targeted sci-tech innovation and the commercialization in Longgang District.
