The first WTCC (World Tennis Continental Cup) had the news releasing conference and the commencement ceremony in Shenzhen on July 25. Scott Davidoff – a world famous tennis promoter, Zhang Zhizhen – a famous tennis player of China, and other personages attended it.
According to the introduction, WTCC 2025 is scheduled to be held from December 26-28 at Shenzhen Universiade Stadium, which is located in Longgang District of Shenzhen. The international top-ranked tennis players, including Andrey Rublev, Arthur Fils, Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, are scheduled to participate in the contest, together with the Chinese tennis players – Zhang Zhizhen, Wang Xinyu.
The tennis players would be grouped into Europe Team and World Team, to play each other on the court. WTCC 2025 would include four events: the men’s doubles, men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed doubles. The essence of the contest is to “enjoy tennis together with the majority”, while it’s expected to be a lively and veritable tennis gala centered around the fans which could bring them rich and fabulous spectator experience, expressed by Davidoff as the director of WTCC.
According to Liu Fei, sponsor of WTCC, the goal of the contest is to introduce world top-tier tennis players to and integrate world tennis mechanism with China’s vast tennis market, so as to make it a reputable, professional and innovative world tennis contest in China characterized by the fantastic experience and engagement of the spectators, as the market is believed to share a promising future.
In September, the host would initiate the folk teenager trials and the training camp’s and club’s qualification tests. Parallel to WTCC 2025, a series of events and activities, such as the first tennis week of Shenzhen, the international tennis life festival, would be held. Being accessible to the tennis charities, teenager tennis institutions, tennis clubs, tennis bloggers and fans, a tennis carnival with the mass participation is on its way.
