The cycling events of the national games terminated in Longgang District on Jul. 08

On July 08, The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the People’s Republic of China, got the cycling events terminated in Longgang District of Shenzhen.

Since July 01, 188 athletes from 16 teams across China participated in the 46 track cycling events and 59 road cycling events, for the 105 golds.

Eventually, the nation’s historical records of 17 events were broken. Guangdong Team got the first place, with 64 gold medals, 43 silver medals and 31 bronze medals. Shandong Team ranked second with 11 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 10 bronze medals, while Henan Team ranked third with 10 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 15 bronze medals.

Guangdong Province always shares its advantages in cycling games, and its athletes achieved a great deal in the cycling games of The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the People’s Republic of China.

Liang Guihua, an athlete of Guangdong Team, won numerous golds, thanks to his persistence in the daily training. “There is no secret of success, but training day by day”, expressed by Liang.

Another athlete of Guangdong Province -- Wang Xiaomei, won 6 golds in the 4 track cycling events and 2 road cycling events she participated in. “The result comes as just what we expect, but also beyond what we expect.” Wang expressed her surprise at the achievement that she could won the championship of all the events she participated in.

“We came back to Guangdong Province for training since this March. We get used to training in hot weather. So, we do not feel it very difficult. And, we had a good performance”, Wang said. “We have further goals. Next, we would train for the Los Angeles Paralympic Games”, Wang added.

Wang also shared her impression of Longgang District where the cycling games took place. “I have before come to Longgang District during my first trip to Shenzhen. There have been many great changes in the district during the recent years, especially nearby the venues of the games. New and beautiful schools have been built here. The district of Shenzhen develops so fast. It is just the speed of Shenzhen”, Wang said.

“No medal would come without pain”, stated by Li Peng -- the chief coach of Guangdong Team. Persistently, the team had systemic and customized training in accordance with the characteristics of the sports and the physical conditions of the athletes. “It’s obviously noticed that our team has won many golds, but only we ourselves keep clear in mind how much we have paid for it”, Li said.
