It is estimated that 36,000 athletes, as well as 45,000 volunteers, would take part in The 15th National Games of the People’s Republic of China and The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the People’s Republic of China, introduced by the organizing committees at the news conference held on June 18.
The above-mentioned games would be hosted jointly for the first time by Guangdong Province, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR of China. With the opening ceremony and closing ceremony respectively held in Guangzhou city and Shenzhen city of Guangdong Province, the games would take place in 19 cities of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Compared with the previous sessions, the games of this year boasts the largest number of host cities.
The 15th National Games would involve 57 sports, while The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the 9th National Special Olympic Games would include 46 sports, all on the ever largest scale.
In total, 105 arenas are designated for the games. The 89 ones in Guangdong Province, apart from the 6 temporary ones, have been prepared well. 90% of the arenas in Guangdong Province are prepared by renovating the previously-existing arenas, while 22 arenas are shared ones, according to the related introduction.
In preparation for the games, Guangdong Province sees 228 designated hospitals for the medical service, as well as the special meteorological stations for the weather forecast. 5 rounds of inspection have been conducted for the prevention of possible risks. Some major arenas are equipped with dual electrical power systems to guarantee the power supply. Besides, the province has also recruited about tens of thousands of volunteers from its 98 colleges and universities, for the hosting of the games above mentioned.
