Shanghai International Film Festival is the only FIAPF-accredited competitive feature film festival in China. It has great influence in Asia. Founded in 1993, the film festival is committed to discovering and supporting the emerging talents in filmmaking.

“Asian New Talent” awards are the typical competition section of Shanghai International Film Festival. The awards are targeted at the first and second long films of Asian young directors. Aimed at encouraging the young directors of Asia, the awards are the highlight of the circle.

“Our group has just finished our first long film. The nomination of The Last Summer, itself is just a honor for our creation and means a lot to us. It means that we are in the core of the lights from the nation even the whole world”, expressed by Lin Boyu -- a founder of Shenzhen Yuguang Cultural Communication Co., Ltd. & the producer of The Last Summer.

Shenzhen Yuguang Cultural Communication Co., Ltd, as an enterprise located at Longgang District Digital Creation Industry Corridor, is newly established and characterized by the local culture. “We choose to get located in Longgang District, because it is a familiar place. But another reason behind the choice is that the district develops fast in the cultural sector and could offer the political support that could better meet our needs. These enhance our confidence in the initial stage of starting up our business”, said Lin Boyu, who grows up in Longgang District.

During the recent years, Longgang District has put forward a series of policies to support the film and television industry. It encourages the young-generation filmmakers. The district offers its support to the creation of the film. Many scenes in the film were filmed in the communities of Longgang District, in a perspective of local characteristics.

Lin hoped that the company could get further development in the district, producing more works to showcase local culture and tell about the local stories, and to record the happenings in the land.
