During the first three quarters of this year, China’s trade in services sustained a sound growth momentum, with the import and export value of the services having a year-on-year increase of 14.5% to 5518.14 billion yuan. Specifically, the exports of the services increased by 15.3% to 2273.34 billion yuan, while the imports of the services rose by 14% to 3244.8 billion yuan, resulting in a service trade deficit of 971.46 billion yuan.
Knowledge-intensive services trade rose continually during the first three quarters, with the import and export value growing by 5.3% to cover 2133.42 billion yuan. In the mean time, the exports of knowledge-intensive services witnessed an increase of 4.8% to 1206.31 billion yuan, among which the two sectors -- personal culture and entertainment service, other commercial services, increased faster, respectively by 21.4% and 8.7%. The imports of knowledge-intensive services saw an increase of 6% to cover 927.11 billion yuan, among which the two sectors -- personal culture and entertainment service, other commercial services, rose faster, respectively by 36.6% and 11.5%.
Travel services kept a rapid growth during the first three quarters, to be a top sector in services trade, with the combined import and export value hitting 1505.28 billion yuan, up by 42.8%.
