Longgang Universiade Commercial Circle being the ONLY national-class one in east Shenzhen to be constructed prominently

On Oct. 07, Commerce Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality publicizes the Announcement to Suggestion Collection for Shenzhen’s Business Site Plan (called simply Announcement in the following of the text). According to the Announcement, Universiade Commercial Circle in Longgang District is the only one in east Shenzhen rated as a national-grade commercial circle to be constructed prominently.

As publicized in the Announcement, Shenzhen Municipality plans to build its “four-class and multiple-element” commercial system, forms four-class structure of commercial consumption space including world class, national class, district class and community class, arranges the spacial layout of the commercial circles and community commercial spots of different classes based on the commercial circles’ current condition, potential radiation capability, scale and spacial layout, optimizes commercial content and orientation, builds up “5+7+42+N” commercial circle system all over Shenzhen, to meet the multiple consumption demands from different consumers. Moreover, the 3 national-class commercial circles to be constructed prominently are Shekou Sea World Commercial Circle, Longhua Supper Commercial Circle and Longgang Universiade Commercial Circle. It means that Longgang Universiade Commercial Circle is the only one in east Shenzhen rated as the national-class commercial circle to be constructed prominently.

The Announcement stipulates that a national-class leading commercial circle is often 500,000 - 1000,000 square meters large. It is oriented towards the consumers in Greater Bay Area, as well as consumers from other cities of China, as it can help improve domestic commercial circulation, meet the target of building international and national-class tourism and consumption destinations, have the large-scale and high-quality comprehensive consumption functions as shopping, catering, entertainment, cultural experience service, and it can also upgrade consumption, develop fashion-graft model and explore creative resources to form inter-disciplinary and experience-oriented commercial format and to develop the Asian influential consumption landmark gathering high-end branches, highlighting urban style, blending commercial function together with different urban functions.

According to the plan, Longgang Universiade Commercial Circle would serve as a district-class sports consumption “engine”, forming an ecology of developing sport consumption and experience-oriented consumption based on the sports events held around Shenzhen Universiade Center and Longgang Central City; and would serve as as a modern and international “new urban parlor”, supplementing high-quality commercial space for technological talents and the youth talents of Hong Kong and Shenzhen around Shenzhen International Universities Park.

Besides, Henggang Commercial Circle, Nanlian Commercial Circle, Bantian Commercial Circle, Buji Commercial Circle and Pinghu Commercial Circle are among the 42 district-level active commercial circles, as planned. The commercial circles, oriented towards the districts they locate and the whole Greater Bay Area, would integrate the district’s characteristics in the fields of culture, sports, scenery, industrial development and the like, and perform characteristic and diversified commercial functions. Around the transportation hubs of intercity rails, it is advocated to get the commercial functions linked beyond the cities, to form the active and comprehensive commercial circles with various business formats including comprehensive shopping, catering, culture, leisure, entertainment, and to develop the district’s commercial center with its attraction and vigor in the progress of the integrated development of the Greater Bay Area.

Some business clusters in the commercial circles are also listed in the plan, which include Henggang cluster in Henggang Commercial Circle featuring eyewear industry, Dafen Oil Painting Village in Buji Commercial Circle featuring oil painting products, Universiade Center Stadium in Longgang Universiade Commercial Circle featuring sports and events, Tian’an Cloud Park in Bantian Commercial Circle featuring digital creation. The business clusters’ business formats are focused on shopping, catering, tourism, leisure and the like. They form a line or a cluster as whole in spacial layout. Most are large-scale business facilities, business blocks, or market clusters, and have strong radiation capacity.
