The Closing Ceremony of The 15th Games of the People’s Republic of China to Occur in Shenzhen

The 15^th Games of the People’s Republic of China would take place from November 09 to November 21 in 2025 in Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao. It’s introduced at the press conference happening in April 11 of 2024 that the opening ceremony would be held in Guangzhou and the closing ceremony would be held in Shenzhen.

On the day of the news conference, the organizing committee of The 15^th Games of the People’s Republic of China was established, meaning the preparation work for the Games had been being processed energetically.

Zhang Xin, the head of Athletic Sports Office under General Administration of Sports of China, introduced that the Games would have 34 athletic sports and 401 athletic events, as well as 23 mass sports and 166 mass events. Most of the sports and events would take place in Guangdong Province. Hong Kong would hold the athletic sports and events, including men’s basketball for athletes under 22 years old, track cycling, fencing, golf, men’s handball, rugby sevens, triathlon, beach volleyball, as well as the mass sports and events as bowling. Macao would hold the athletic sports and events, including ping-pong, women’s volleyball for adult athletes, 3×3 basketball, men’s basketball for athletes under 18 years old, as well as the mass sports and events as karate. Furthermore, about 90% of the sports and events would take place at the currently-existed stadiums and venues, for reducing the cost of holding The 15^th  Games of the People’s Republic of China.

Zhang Xin also expressed, on August of 2021, the State Council authorized Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao to host the 15^th Games of the People’s Republic of China. During the two year afterwards, General Administration of Sports of China cooperated with Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPC, People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the Government of Hong Kong Special Administration Region of China, and the Government of Macao Special Administration Region of China, in actively and orderly promoting the happening of the national Games in accordance with the principle of making it “green, common-shared, open, honest and clean” and the standard of holding a “simple, safe and colorful” game.

“The 15^th Games of the People’s Republic of China is the largest, top-level, highly-influential and comprehensive game held cooperatively by Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao. It is also the first of its kind that Hong Kong and Macao joined in the hosting”, said by Zhang Xin.
