On February 08, at the regular news conference, Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council announced that 9 cross-strait exchange bases have been permitted to title, including the Tianhou Museum at Nanshan District of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province and the Zhongshan Park Baseball Field at Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. It is the first time for Shenzhen to declare for national cross-strait exchange base.
As expressed by related authority, the communication and exchange between the two straits are important to improve cross-strait relationship. It is hoped by the both sides to returned to have normal communication and cooperation in various fields. To establish more cross-strait communication platforms and offer more chances for the compatriots to look back into history, appreciate culture, develop relative relationship and to achieve common development, Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council have permitted to title 9 cross-strait exchange bases.
As known, the Tianhou Museum at Nanshan District of Shenzhen was established in 1997, and is the largest Tianhou temple of China’s coastal area. Its unique custom--Ci Sha, traced back to the official sea worship ceremony of Dynasty Ming, is China’s current highest-level official sea worship ceremony. The museum is an important place for overseas Chinese to relieve their homesickness and patriotism. The Tianhou Museum has accepted more than one thousand Taiwan group visitors and individual visitors, and has also organized the visits to Taiwan for many times, making vigorous efforts to carry out Mazu culture exchange activities across the two traits.
Since the Final of 2017 Cross-strait Student Baseball League was held in Shenzhen, the Zhongshan Park Baseball Field has been competition court for three finals of Cross-strait Student Baseball League, with the two straits’ 116 student baseball teams, about 3,000 baseball players, coaches, and judges. The baseball field also offered court for the Final of the 13th China College Student Baseball and Softball League, the 10th Asia U15 Teenager Baseball Championship and many other important baseball competitions and events. It is famed in the two straits’ baseball society.
