GD Experimental Shenzhen School to open

The Guangdong Experimental Shenzhen School, a school jointly founded by the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau and Guangdong Experimental School in Banxuegang Science and Technology Town, Longgang District, will open in September 2021.

The school will offer 12-year education from primary school to high school. Its high school section will officially admit students for the 2021 school year, according to a notice released by the school recently to recruit teachers from recent college graduates.

Work on the school, which was originally named Shenzhen No. 17 High School, started in July this year. The school covers an area of 70,342 square meters and was budgeted at 1.15 billion yuan (US$176 million).

The school will have 36 classes for the primary school section, 18 classes for the junior middle school section and 42 classes for the senior middle school section. The buildings of the high school section will be completed in May 2021 and put into use in September next year, offering places for 2,100 students.

Guangdong Experimental School is a key provincial school and part of the first batch of national model schools in Guangdong Province. Seven academics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, including renowned respiratory disease expert Zhong Nanshan, are graduates from the school system.
