On Oct.29, the Phase 2 of Shenzhen Metro Line 8 began its trial operation -- running for over 20 days without carrying passengers, which means that the new route would be open to traffic soon.
Shenzhen Metro Line 8--Phase 2 would get connected to Shenzhen Metro Line 2 and Shenzhen Metro Line 8 at Yantian Road Station. It would increase Hong’anwei Station, Yantianxu Station, Dameisha Station, and Xiaomeisha Station. Shenzhen Metro Line 8--Phase 2, with a total length of 8.01 kilometers, would be the first metro line in Shenzhen to Dameisha Resort and Xiaomeisha Resort directly. It could help shorten the time spending in the travel from Dameisha Resort and Xiaomeisha Resort in Yantian District to the central towns in Luohu District, Futian District, Nanshan District, etc, and vice versa. Further, Shenzhen would more easily achieve a coordinated development over its all districts.
Trial operation is essential for a new line to be open for the traffic. Currently, the construction work of Shenzhen Metro Line 8--Phase 2 has passed fire-fighting qualification check. During its no-passenger trail operation period, Metro Line 8--Phase 2 would trail its run, but without passengers between Yantian Road Station and Xiaomeisha Station, while Metro Line 2 and Metro Line 8 would keep as normal and be available to passengers between Chiwan Station and Yantian Road Station.
“During the trial operation, metro trains could carry passengers from Chiwan Station to Yantian Road Station as normal in Metro Line 2 and Metro Line 8, and would run through the new route without carrying passengers in Metro Line 8--Phase 2, then would be available to the passengers as returning back to Yantian Road Station. The trail operation would not cause any bad influence in the normal operation of Metro Line 2 and Metro Line 8”, according to Shenzhen Metro Group.
