Notice: Super Typhoon Saola Comes

Meteorological Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality gives orange typhoon warning signal at 6:00am at Sep. 01, 2023.  

On the morning -- 5:00am, Super Typhoon Saola hit the sea surface approximately 278 kilometers southwest to Shenzhen, with the maximum wind speed at the typhoon center reaching 55m/s and the minimum atmospheric pressure reaching 930hPa.

Then, Saola may pass Shenzhen, from 100 kilometers around it, as forecasted.

On the afternoon -- 1:00 pm, rains would hit Shenzhen (including Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone), being heavier and heavier, and the city would be hit by rainstorm, even heavy rainstorm, as some parts may be hit by extraordinary rainstorm. Accompanied by the rains and rainstorms, heavy wind would also come, with level 10-12 gust in the land area and level 12-14 gust in the offshore, highland and sea areas.  

Shenzhen begins its emergency defence measures to withstand Saola.

On the afternoon of Aug. 31, school would suspend the class. On the afternoon of Sep. 01, office work, market, and business operation would be suspended from 4:00 pm, and public traffic wold be suspended from 7:00 pm.

Shelters from risks caused by Saola would be open to citizens in the Shenzhen.

Related authorities would be on duty to guarantee the supply of water, power, air, food, drug, etc. And, effective measures should be taken to defend against the super typhoon and safeguard citizens’ life and property.

Here, it is also warned that citizens should pay close attention to the trend of Saola, avoid unnecessary outgoing, close the door and window tightly, keep away from sea area, offshore area, mountain area and other hazardous areas,etc.
