On August 20, 2023 IIHF Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships -- Group A would begin at Longgang Universiade Center of Shenzhen.
On September 2022, Shenzhen of China won the bid to host 2023 Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships -- Group A, as approved at the mid-year conference by International Ice Hockey Federation ( IIHF).
2023 IIHF Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships -- Group A is hosted by International Ice Hockey Federation, organized by General Administration of Sport of China -- Winter Sports Administration Center, China Ice Hockey Association, Guangdong Provincial Sports Bureau and People’s Government of Shenzhen Municipality, under the assistance from Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports and People’s Government of Longgang District, Shenzhen.
It is another international winter sports competition hosted by China after Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. And, it is also the highest-level international ice hockey game hosted in China, following 2008 Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships -- Top Group and 2009 Harbin Winter Universiade, introduced by Chen Qiang -- the secretary-general of China Ice Hockey Association.
2023 IIHF Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships -- Group A would be held at the Gymnasium at Shenzhen Universiade Center from August 20 to August 26. Then, China would compete with Denmark, Norway, Slovakia, Austria and Holland for the position of Group Top of the World Championships.
