On May 22, Zhong Nanshan, an academician of China Academy of Engineering expressed at Pharmaceutical and Health Sub Forum of Greater Bay Area Science Forum 2023, 2 vaccines against XBB variant have gained preliminary approval for popularization.
Judged according to related materials, there would be a “small peak” in the outbreak of COVID-19 at the end of April and the beginning of May. “It is what has been anticipated by us”, Zhong Nanshan said, it is really important to develop vaccines that can provide stronger protection against XBB variant. Now, there are 2 ones having gained preliminary approval, and will be another 3 or 4 ones will gain approval soon.
“China can lead the world in researching and developing more effective vaccines”, added Zhong Nanshan.
