On September 15, China Enterprise Confederation (CEC) and China Enterprise Directors Association (CEDA) released the List of Top 500 Chinese Enterprises (2025).
The threshold for entry onto the list is an enterprise’s 47.96-billion-yuan business revenue generated in 2024, being 579 million yuan more than the previous year.
The top 500 Chinese enterprises on this year’s list generated a total business revenue of 110.15 trillion yuan in 2024, presenting a growth tendency from the previous year. In detail, 267 enterprises, accounting for 53.4% of the shortlisted enterprises, are 100-billion-yuan enterprises, showing a yearly increase of 14 enterprises which generated independently a business revenue of over 100 billion yuan in 2024. For the 8th year in a row, the Top 500 Chinese Enterprises show the increased average of their R&D Intensity. This year, the enterprises’ input into the research and development reaches a historical high, taking over a 1.95% share. The list keeps a basic balance between the number of the state-owned enterprises and that of the private enterprises, which respectively stand at 251 and 249.
