China SME Development Index hit 89.5 during the first quarter

China Small and Medium Enterprise Development Index, which is based on a survey of 3,000 SMEs and could reflect the business performance of SMEs, hit 89.5 in the first quarter of this year, up 0.5 points from last quarter, reaching the historical high since 2020, according to what was announced on April 10 by China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CASME).

According to the survey of CASME, the nation’s SMEs showed overall-better development prospect during the first quarter, due to the visibly-increased business benefits resulted from slightly-decreased business expenses. SMEs engaged in social service sector, industry sector, transportation sector and information transmission software sector, tended to perform better.

And during the first three months, the nation’s SMEs saw an ongoing surge in the capacity utilization rate, with 11% more fully-operated enterprises than last quarter.
