2024 Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Forum & Shenzhen International Low-carbon City Forum began in Longgang District

On October 28, 2024 Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Forum & Shenzhen International Low-carbon City Forum began in Longgang District of Shenzhen. 

This year, the Forum was hosted by The People’s Government of Shenzhen Municipality, and organized by Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau and The People’s Government of Longgang District. With the theme of “developing new-quality productive forces and promoting comprehensive transition to green development approach”, the Forum of this year would last to October 30. During the term, a wide range of activities and events would take place, including 1 opening ceremony, 10 theme forums and seminars. 

The Opening Ceremony of the Forum occurred at Shenzhen International Low-carbon City in Longgang District of Shenzhen. At the Opening Ceremony, an awarding presentation for “2024 Urban Green and Low-carbon Scenario Demonstration Bases” was given, awarding the titles to 8 projects of convention and exhibition center, campus community, industrial park, research base and etc. 

At the Opening Ceremony, Shenzhen municipal certification system for green and low-carbon industries was publicized. Being China’s first one with the characteristics of Shenzhen, the system consists of 1 catalogue, 1 piece of certification regulations, 1 peice of certification guide and certain pieces of technology specifications, as well as the data banks of green and low-carbon enterprises and projects. It contributes to the mutual approval of green and low-carbon industries in GBA, and to the acceleration of high-quality development of the green and low-carbon industries in GBA.

At the Opening Ceremony introduced were the achievements in implementing the scheme for the certification of carbon footprint labels, which belongs to the first one of the sort in China. With perfect working plans, scientific standards and unified examination and certification platforms, GBA resorts to massive practices for the certification of carbon footprint labels and has got its own special labels. 

Besides, many academicians, professionals, as well as the representatives of outstanding enterprises attended the Opening Ceremony of the Forum and gave their speeches. 

Zhao Tianshou -- an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the director of Energy Institute for Carbon Neutrality under Southern University of Science and Technology, gave a speech on “the development of energy-storage technologies to promote the transition to green and low-carbon development”.

Zou Caineng -- an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and a chief new-energy specialist of China National Petroleum Corporation, gave a speech on “the green transformation of energy to produce new-quality productive forces”. 

Zhu Qingfeng -- a standing member of CPC Committee in China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group, introduced in his theme speech the enterprises’ practices and actions for green and low-carbon development in the aspect of smart energy utility, recyclable water use, diversified energy supply.

Zhao Jianping -- the vice president of BYD, expressed in his speech that new-energy automobiles represent a direction of the high-end, smart and green transformation and are in a high-tech, efficient and high-quality path necessitated by the development of new-quality productive forces.
