2024 Digital and Low-altitude Conference held in Shenzhen

On August 02, 2024 Digital and Low-altitude Conference was held at Kylin Viua Hotel in Shenzhen. With the theme being “laying digital foundations for the development of low-altitude economy”, the conference was hosted by Peng Cheng Laboratory and FuTURE Mobile Communication Forum.The specialists and enterprise representatives in the field of civil aviation, wire-less electricity, information communication technology and low-altitude application, attended the conference and had a discussion on how to apply digital technology to low-altitude economy.

Gaowen -- director of Peng Cheng Laboratory and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering addressed the conference. Li Jian -- former deputy director of Civil Aviation Administration of China, You Xiaohu -- vice director of Peng Cheng Laboratory, director of Purple Mountain Laboratories, vice chairman and secretary-general of FuTURE Mobile Communication Forum and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shen Xiangyang -- founding chairman of International Digital Economy Academy and foreign academician of National Academy of Engineering of the US, as well as many other specialists gave their reports at the conference.

Gao Wen expressed, to promote the high-quality development of low-altitude economy, it’s necessary to lay three foundations -- “political foundation” “digital and technological foundation” and “service foundation”. Low-altitude economy necessitates sensing technology to sense and supervise drones and other flying vehicles in certain airspace. It’s the bottleneck technology for the development of low-altitude economy.

Currently, the application of some 6G technologies could benefit low-altitude economy. You Xiaohu, at the conference, gave a report named 6G and Low-altitude Internet. He stressed that low-altitude economy provided classical scenarios for the test of 6G comprehensive technologies. Cell-free millimeter-wave integrated sensing and communication technology could lead to the improvement in the communication and sensing capacity of 5G tehcnologies, so it is worth exploring in the construction of low-altitude ICT infrastructure.

China has achieved a great deal in building low-altitude sensing and communication network. At the conference, it was introduced that Peng Cheng Laboratory had set up a special platform for testing key low-altitude technologies. The platform could help to establish a reliable, safe and three-dimensional low-altitude network and better supervise and manage the flying vehicles in low-altitude environment.

Moreover, FuTURE Mobile Communication Forum advocates fostering the development of low-altitude economy by means of China’s advanced ICT chains and suggested making low-altitude scenarios the classical 6G application scenarios to make contributions to the setting of 6G standards. The Digital Low Altitude Working Group, founded by FuTURE Mobile Communication Forum, would come into being officially at the conference. The working group would be dedicated to building basic low-altitude intelligent information technological structure, setting the norms and standards, having systematic testing and appraisal, and forming identification mechanism, so as to push the establishment of low-altitude industrial ecology.
