Dec. 13 | Swimming events of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the PRC, taking place in Longgang District of Shenzhen

On December 13, the swimming events of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the PRC, continued at the natatorium of Shenzhen Universiade Center, in Longgang District of Shenzhen, with 34 golds awarded and 5 national records broken.

Notably:

Jiang Yuyan, a player of Zhejiang Team and a world record holder, won the women’s 100-m backstroke -- S6 with a score of 01:20:58. And, Jiang and other 3 players of Zhejiang Team won the 4×100m mixed medley -- S34, with a score of 04:38:17. Hence, Jiang has been the winner of 8 gold medals of the Games.

“At the time of the last leg, we fell behind, but nobody could know the result until the last minute”, Jiang expressed, “I just swam hard and got concentrated on my strokes... ” Jiang also added that the gold medal that the team won by a narrow margin was more valuable.

Yang Xikang of Henan Team won the men’s 200-m individual medley -- SM15 during the Games, with a national-record-breaking score of 02:11:85. He has therefore won 5 golds of the Games.

CHEUNG Tsun Lok from Hong Kong Team won the gold for the men’s 100-m butterfly stroke -- S14, with a score of 00:59:44.
