On December 12, the swimming events of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the PRC, continued at the natatorium of Shenzhen Universiade Center, in Longgang District of Shenzhen, with 34 golds awarded and 9 national records broken.
Notably:
Xu Xingshang -- a player of Shandong Team won the gold for the men’s 100-m freestyle - S12 during the Games, with a score of 00:55:23, breaking the record of the nation. And, with a score of 04:10:53, Shandong Team, consisted of Sun Chuanzhen, Zhou Shanshan, Bao Mingqi and Xu Xingshang, broke the national record for the 4×100m freestyle mixed relay -- S49. Hence, Xu Xingshang has won 6 golds of the Games.
Guo Jincheng, a player of Hebei Team who has ever won four gold medals in Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, participated in the Games for the third time. After winning the gold for the men’s 200-m individual medley -- SM5 on the previous day, he won his second gold in the competition of the men’s 50-m freestyle -- S5 on December 12.
“I’m excited. I have not gained a gold during the previous two sessions of the Games that I took part in before. It’s uneasy. I come for it. I have ever won gold medals in the international games, and I would not like to lose at home. Swimming means a lot to me. It makes me confident and self-improved, and brings me wider vision of the world. I could make my own life by swimming. It makes my life hopeful. I hope I could be more powerful in the future”, said Guo Jincheng.
Liu Jiaming, a player of Zhejiang Team, won the gold for the men’s 100-m backstroke -- S14, breaking the nation’s record for the sixth time during the Games.
Zhang Meng, a player of Shandong Team won the women’s 400-m freestyle -- S10, breaking the nation’s 7-year record with a score of 04:44:01.
Chen Ruilin, a Hong Kong player, won the gold for the women’s 100-m backstroke -- S14 during the Games, with a national-record-breaking score of 01:10:07.
