On December 09, the swimming events of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games of the PRC, commenced at the natatorium of Shenzhen Universiade Center, in Longgang District of Shenzhen. On that day, 33 golds were awarded totally.
Notably:
Ren Yuxiao, an athlete of Guangdong Team won the gold for the men’s 50-m freestyle -- S1/S2, the first gold medal for the swimming sport at the Games.
“It’s the first time that I have taken part in the Games, being nervous and excited. Before the Games, I had about-5-hour training each day in the muscle power building and technical movement improving. Hence, I improved myself and got higher scores”, expressed by Ren.
Liu Xiaoyi, a Hong Kong player, won the gold medal for the women’s 200-m freestyle -- S14 at the Games, the first swimming gold that the team earned, with a national-record-breaking score of 02:13:50. And, Chen Ruilin, another player of Hong Kong, was the silver winner.
