During August 22-27, The 15th National Games of the PRC had the finals of gateball (a recreational sport of the Games) held at Shenzhen Universiade Center Stadium. 459 players of 28 teams (including Hong Kong Team and Macao Team) participated in the finals. Eventually, 6 golds were awarded.
It’s the first time that gateball has been incorporated into the recreational sports system of the 15th National Games. The gateball programme of the 15th National Games is divided into 6 divisions, including the five-a-side mixed division A (for men aged 61-70 and women aged 56-70), five-a-side mixed division B (for men aged 19-60 and women aged 19-55), five-a-side mixed division C (the 12-18 years old), team event, men’s doubles and women’s doubles.
Finally, Henan Team became the biggest successor, winning the 2 golds for the five-a-side mixed division A and the team event. Jiangsu Team won the gold for the five-a-side mixed division B. Anhui Team won the gold for the five-a-side mixed division C. Hubei Team won the gold for the women’s doubles, while Shangdong Team won the gold for the men’s doubles.
