4 biomedical enterprises to settle in Longgang

Four biomedical enterprises signed agreements to settle in Longgang. The signing took place July 28 at the main venue in Pingshan District of the 2022 Shenzhen Biomedical Industry Special Investment Meeting. Currently, the number of pharmaceutical companies in Longgang ranks 3rd in the city.

The four enterprises cover biomedical production bases, innovation centers, demonstration bases and industrialization projects. The biomedical industry is one of the three core industry clusters of information technology, biotechnology and low carbon that Longgang District is focusing on developing. The industry has a solid foundation and a strong R&D platform. It has made great advances regarding research result transformation and has great development prospects.

In the biomedical industry, the number of pharmaceutical companies in Longgang ranks 3rd in the city and the number of its device companies ranks 2nd in the city. It has a total of 31 biomedical industry innovation platforms, two well-known universities specializing in medicine, three biomedical-related Nobel laureate-led labs, one cryo-electron microscopy center and six public tertiary hospitals.

The district is planning the construction of the Baolong biomedical innovation development pilot area, which will be a strategic home base for Shenzhen to achieve the goal of seizing the development opportunities of the biomedical industry.

The biomedical industry is a core industry of Shenzhen to promote agglomeration development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and the Baolong biomedical innovation development pilot area is one of the five key parks the city is constructing.

Longgang District will center on R&D and production of the biomedical industry, focusing on the development of key areas including drug therapy, medical devices and biomedical engineering, and push forward the construction of major projects including the Baolong biomedical innovation development pilot area.

On July 28, as a subvenue of the biomedical industry special investment meeting, the Longgang biomedical industry development and cooperation salon was successfully held, gathering nearly 50 experts and entrepreneurs from the biomedical field to discuss the development of the industry.

Government officials, industrial experts and entrepreneurs at the salon gave a thumbs-up to Longgang's industrial foundation, beautiful environment, and vast development space, deeming that there is a great development potential for the coordinated development of upstream and downstream industry chains of the biomedical industry.
