Univ. to welcome 1st batch of medical students this fall

The School of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-SZ) will welcome its first batch of students for its bachelor's degree program in clinical medicine this fall, according to information released at a spring reception for media held Thursday on the CUHK-SZ campus in Longgang District.

CUHK-SZ is also planning to add three new majors this year, specifically chemistry, bioscience and pharmacy.

At present, the head of the School of Medicine has been confirmed and the bidding for the construction plans of the school has also been launched.

It is said that the School of Medicine will cover nearly 211,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 550,000 square meters.

At the same time, the head of the Shenzhen Conservatory of Music, also known as the CUHK-SZ School of Music, was confirmed. Related preparation has been initiated, said the university.

The School of Music will cover an area of nearly 73,800 square meters, with a construction area of nearly 129,700 square meters.

The two new schools are located in the international university area in Longgang District, adjacent to the CUHK-SZ main building.

Given the fast development of the university, the second phase of the campus development is ongoing.

New teaching buildings, international academic exchange centers, colleges and research buildings will be built under the second-phase campus construction.
