Society | Examination Season Is Coming ! --- Noise Pollution Prohibited !

Examination season of each year is coming. To create a tranquil and harmonious environment for making preparation for and taking part in the exams, Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau released on May 17 The Announcement on the Control of Noise Pollution during the Senior Middle School Entrance Examination and College Entrance Examination, imposing special control on noise pollution and guaranteeing that the examinations can go on smoothly.

As stipulated by the Announcement, during the preparation period for senior middle school entrance examination -- from June 20 to June 25, and during the preparation period for college entrance examination -- from May 30 to June 06, construction, decoration, broadcasting, recreational sound amplification, whistling, and any other behavior that would cause noise pollution are banned within 300 meters around junior middle schools, senior middle schools and other building clusters (residential areas) sensitive to noise pollution all over whole Shenzhen Municipality. And, during the periods that the examinations take place -- from June 07 to June 09 and from June 26 to June 28, the above-mentioned behaviors are banned within 500 meters around the examination sites and the preparation schools.

According to the Announcement, from May 30 to June 09, and from June 20 to June 28, the ecology and environment authority will not give the permit for noon construction and night construction work, and will prohibit any construction work which would cause noise pollution. Besides, the noise generated at other times of the days should be within the limit stipulated by the national or local laws. Or, any organization or person violating the Announcement will be punished seriously and exposed through media.

The ecology and environment authority will cooperate with public security department, transportation department, housing and construction department, city management department and the like to strengthen the supervision and management over construction fields and other sources of noise pollution, and make fundamental and concerted efforts to prevent noise and provide convenience for candidates during senior middle school entrance examination and college entrance examination, expressed by an authority of Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau.
